Q: Will I need to drill a hole in my truck when I install my BAKFlip?

A: No, there is no drilling required when installing a BAKFlip. The BAKFlip was designed for easy installation. It will easily clamp onto the rail of your truck with its easy to use clamp system. The only tool you will need to install a typical BAKFlip tonneau cover is  a 15mm wrench. You will just need to tighten the 3 clamps on each side of the truck bed. On an 8´ bed there are generally 4 clamps on each side when installing.

Q: How long will it take to install a BAKFlip cover?

A: On average, installing a BAKFlip cover takes about 20 minutes. For those who have installed a BAKFlip before it should take no more than 10 minutes to install once you know what to expect.

Q: Is it possible to drive with my BAKFlip in the open position?

A: Yes it is. The BAKFlip cover can be used in 5 positions: completely closed, 1/4 open, half way open, 3/4 open, and opened all the way. There is provision built into the panels of the BAKFlip to automatically secure them when shut.

Q: Will my vision be blocked if I drive with the BAKFlip in the full open position?

A: The BAKFlip tonneau cover was created so that it can be used in the full open position or any of the other incremental positions. Most likely the full open position would be used when hauling a full load such as a couch or a desk. When hauling larger items such as those mentioned your rear view will be blocked anyway. In such case you will need to make use of your side view mirrors when you drive with the cover locked in the fully upright position. Do note that you do not need to drive with the cover fully open.

Q: Does the BAKFlip lock?

A: When closing the panels of the BAKFlip they will automatically latch down shut and stay secured under the rails of the tonneau cover. The panel will not be opened unless you are able to access the release cables found underneath the panels and this can easily be done from the driver side or passenger side of the truck. This is a unique locking system which means that there are no keyholes or locks exposed to the elements or thieves. All securing features are concealed under the cover where it is safest. For total security you will need to lock your tailgate. 

Q: What if my tailgate does not lock?

A: The manufacturer, BAK Industries, includes tailgate locks with your purchase for most pickup trucks.

Q: Will the BAKFlip cover damage the paint of my truck or glass when I drive with it in the full upright position?

A: No. The BAKFlip contains solid rubber bumpers under the cover. When you fold the BAKFlip all of the way forward the solid rubber bumpers protect your cab and the rear window from being scuffed or damaged in any way from the cover. There is no movement from the cover when it is propped against your cab while driving. The third brake light is also visible at all times which means driving with the cover open is legal in all states.

Q: Does the BAKFlip cover work with my factory track/rail system?

A: Yes. The BAKFlip was designed to work with your specific truck. It is designed to work with your factory equipped cargo management system.

Q: Does the BAKFlip work with bed extenders?

A: Yes. The BAKFlip rails will always let you use your bed extender without any modification needed.

Q: Can I stand on my BAKFlip?

A: Yes. Although it is not recommended standing on the top of it. The BAKFlip cover is made to fold. Each time you fold the cover it gains strength and the amount of weight it can handle on top of it. If you are going to stand on top of the cover, flip it over first and the stand on it. The BAKFlip cover can handle up to 300 pounds of weight on top of it and will not show any damage.

Q: How much does the BAKFlip cover weigh?

A: The weight varies. It depends on the size of the cover, whether it´s for a short bed or a long bed. The weight of a typical cover, along with its rails, is approximately 55 pounds.

Q: How long is the warranty for a BAKFlip?

A: There are four models of the BAKFlip tonneau cover: G2, HD, CS, and F1. The BAKFlip G2 has a warranty for 1 year and the HD, CS, and F1 models have a warranty for 2 years.

Q: What material are the BAKFlip panels made from?

A: The exterior part of the panels are either fiberglass polymer or aircraft grade aluminum, both impact resistant. The inner core of the BAKFlip is a very dense EPS (polystyrene), which allows the panels to be insulated and impact resistant. Even though they are light in weight they are very strong and completely watertight.

Q: Can I paint my BAKFlip panels?

A: Yes. The panels can be panted as they are made from aluminum.

Q: Can I use a BAKFlip tonneau cover with a bedliner?

A: Yes. It is designed to work with any spray on, carpet, or under the rail bedliner.

Q: Can I use the BAKFlip cover with my bed extender?

A: Yes. The rails extend into the bed by 3/4 inch on each side. Tilting your bed extender is never a problem.

Q: Can I use the BAKFlip cover with a rack?

A: Yes, it will work with certain kinds of racks. The BAKFlip CS model is available which has an integrated sliding rack.

Q: Can I use the BAKFlip cover with bed rails or tie downs?

A: Yes. The BAKFlip gives you the capability to always have full access to stake pockets. Therefore using bed rails and tie downs with the BAKFlip is no problem.

A: There is not one trcuk bed cover out there that is completely waterproof. The BAKFlip is created to keep 98% of water out of your truck bed. A small drip near the tailagte is not uncommon. This is due in part by the airflow that allows moisture t be drawn back into the truck through the gaps around your tailgate. There are drain tubes on your BAKFlip that are designed to drain all of the water from your truck bed that gets collected in your rails. The BAKFlip covers are meant to be very water tight but there is no guarantee against a minor drip from time to time. 

Q: Will the hinges or seals of my BAKFlip ever wear out?

A: No. The hinges and seals of the BAKFlip are made from a synthetic material EPDM that is able to withstand any UV light over long periods of time and extreme temperatures that cannot be reached on Earth.

Q: What method is used to ship the BAKFlip?

A: The BAKFlip is shipped straight from the manufacturer, BAK Industries, through UPS. For International destinations, international freight forwarders and airfreight companies are used.

Q: How is the BAKFlip packaged when shipped?

A: The packaging of a BAKFlip is certified the highest rating that a package can qualify for through UPS. The BAKFlip is surrounded by an expandable foam that fills every inch of the box so in case the box receives abuse to the extreme you will still find the BAKFlip unharmed and in excellent condition when it arrives to your home or business.

Q: Will I need to drill a hole in my truck when I install my RollBAK?

A: No. The RollBAK simply clamps to the truck rails. The cover consists of a canister and a set of nails. The RollBAK canister can be mounted with a couple of self tapping screws on each side or can be easily clamped onto the rail.

Q: How much time does it take to install a RollBAK cover?

A: It takes about an hour to install but if you have installed a RollBAK cover before it should not take more than 30 to 45 minutes to install. It is a lot
easier to install than most retractable tonneau covers.

Q: Is it possible to drive with my RollBAK cover in the open position?

A: Yes. The RollBAK locks into position in multiple areas along the side rail of your truck. Because of that you can drive with it at any open position.
It has a unique dual latching system that automatically locks the cover into place at any incremental position.

Q: Will my vision be blocked if I drive with the RollBAK open at any position?

A: No. The RollBAL retractable tonneau cover was designed to be extremely low profile and will not block your vision in any way.

Q: Does the RollBAK lock?

A: When closing the cover it automatically begins to latch on to the side rails of your truck at each incremental position when you reach the final
position (completely shut) the RollBAK is locked securely and can only be opened from the underside of the cover. ANd with the tailgate locked the RollBAK

A: Yes. The rake must be a stake pocket mounted rack and does not hang over the inside edge of your truck bed rails.
